Simmental Herd
The Glenturk Herd of Simmentals was formed in 1970 as part of the original importation to the UK. After successfully breeding Simmentals for 30 years we lost the herd in a contiguous cull during the Foot and Mouth disease in April 2001. On re-stocking we were very fortunate to be able to purchase the majority of the spring calving portion of the Balmanno herd. This gave us a great basis to form our new herd. Since then we have had numerous successes at major shows and sales, winning the Supreme Simmental Championship and Reserve Interbreed with Balmanno Mermaid in 2003 at the Highland Show. In 2006 Glenturk Rita was placed overall Junior Champion and Female Champion at the Highland Show. We have also had success at the Perth Bull Sales, winning a Supreme Championship with Glenturk Nomad, and selling bulls to a top price of 17,000gns for Glenturk Rolex. |

Veron was purchased at Perth Bull Sales October 08 for 7000 gns. He has an outstanding pedigree with two Supreme Perth Champions, Glebefarm Reputation sold for 8000 gns and Corrick Kentucky Kid sold for 21,000 gns in his back breeding. His grandmother is the famous Cleenagh Daffodil who has bred sons to 15,000 gns (Omorga Prince) and 22,000gns (Omorga Samson). |

Rolex was originally sold at Perth where he was Reserve Junior Champion and made 17,000gns. We bought him back in 2008 after the Treetops herd was dispersed. We were keen to get him back after being very impressed with his early progeny.
At the Hockenhull dispersal sale 3 yearling Rolex daughters were sold to a top price of 8000gns and average 6666gns. |

King Kong was purchased at the South Park dispersal sale for 9000gns. He has bred some outstanding stock. In the female line he bred Glenturk Rita, Overall Junior Champion and Female Champion at the Highland Show 2006, and Simmental and Interbreed Champion at Dumfries Show on her only other outing. He also bred South Park King Kong Weikel 2nd, which was shown very successfully in Northern Ireland for David Hazelton and has bred sons up to 9,000gns. On the male side he has also bred well for us with sons selling to a top of 10,000gns for Glenturk Supreme.

Keystone was Junior Champion and Reserve Male Champion at the Highland Show in 2000. He has bred some outstanding bulls, notably Glenturk Nomad, Supreme Champion February 2004 at Perth, sold to the Sacombe Herd for 7500gns. Also Glenturk Rolex, Reserve Junior Champion and sold for 17,000gns October 2005. Keystone’s daughters are proving to be very consistent breeders. |
