Glenturk Farm
The Allan family have farmed at Glenturk since 1913 when the current owner Brian's grandfather bought the farm from the Earl of Galloway at public auction in Newton Stewart. In 1940 Pedigree Galloway Cattle were introduced and Glenturk became one of the leading herds throughout the world with numerous exports to Germany, Kenya, Australia and Canada. The Galloway herd continued to flourish under first Willie and then Brian's stewardship achieving many show and sale awards, including Royal Highland, Royal Show and Smithfield prizes. In 1970 Brian's father (Willie) imported some of the first Simmental Cattle from Switzerland and had great success over the intervening years. Brian started farming Glenturk on his own in 1989 with equal success and in 1996 introduced Limousin cattle from Luttrelstown Castle, Dublin (where Posh and Becks were married) to Glenturk.
